Patsy Farr, Dingle Peninsula
The Dingle Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way has been my home since 1995.
The wild Atlantic surrounds us here and dictates the ever changing humours of this stunning rugged place. Ceaseless changes in colour light and mood.
Only visiting; 20 years ago I found myself enthralled by the energy of this place and could not leave. I walked and observed for years and in time this led to inspiration... The discovery of my buried treasure... a passion... for painting.
So I paint. The wild places, wild weather and wild life of this dramatic energetic place which speaks to my heart and resonates with my soul... maybe catching and sharing a small piece of its magic with you.
I have worked at many things; from bodhrán maker to community arts worker , reflexologist to waitress, dentist to environmental worker both here in Ireland and in my native England.
I attended Patsy Farr’s (an acclaimed artist living locally) art class here in Dingle some years ago and have not been able to stop painting since. I have successfully exhibited in group exhibitions around the peninsula and I have had an extremely successful solo exhibition as part of Féile na Bealtaine (one of the biggest arts festivals in the Ireland). My work has been selling steadily and I have received regular commissions which are always enjoyable and challenging. I work at home as the flexibility suits me... I am also a busy mum.
